One thing to consider is next summer Riley (Brayden’s sister) will turn 13.  Subsequent summers she will turn 14 then 15.  It is likely to assume that Brayden will not utilize full time day care at the same rate in 2015 and 2016 with a sister in the household of babysitting age.  The above numbers, cover the highest cost scenario.

School Days

Information for Latchkey can be obtained at the following link: http://www.bcsonline.info/Welcome_to_BCS/Latchkey.html.  Attachment #1 below is an email correspondence with Cynthia Balicki who is listed as the primary contact person for Latchkey on the BCS Kids’ Club link.  The costs shown above are based on information from the website and her reply. 

The yearly cost for the days Brayden attends school is $1992.25.  This will cover Brayden from 7:40 am – 6 pm except for the 4 days a year which are classified as delayed start days.  For those 4 days a year, it will cover Brayden from 8:20 am – 6 pm.

Weekend, Holiday, and Vacation

There are no costs for child care during these times.

Remaining Days

There are a variety of different options for day care when school is not in session.  One option is the Beverly Hills Club (BHC) which offers full day camps.  Angela also belongs to this club (or did) and Brayden has spent time in the summer and school year breaks attending camp at this facility.  BHC camps are available for summer, mid-winter breaks, or for any day school is not in session.  From their website - http://www.beverlyhillsclub.net/juniors/camps/ .

All of our camps at BHC are available for both members AND non-members. We offer an assortment of camps throughout the year for children as young as 3 up to 13 years old.

When purchased in bulk, the weekly cost for summer camp is $145/week http://www.beverlyhillsclub.net/summer3.pdf.  For other times of the year, weekly cost for camp is $165/week.  Full day camp runs from 9 am – 4 pm, but there is free pre and post care from 7:30-9 am and 4-6 pm.  http://www.beverlyhillsclub.net/programs/summer.pdf

$2090 should cover Brayden from 7:30 am -6 pm for all the remaining days he is not attending school or on holiday/vacation.

Mr. Behm,

The website hasn't been updated yet, but the $8.25 is remaining the same for the 2013-2014 school year.  The rate goes up a bit if you do not register by the 25th of the preceding month.  There is a $60 registration fee, in addition to the daily rate.  We offer Kids' Club on half days.  The cost for that is $25 and KC will run from 11:20am-6:00pm on the half days.  There are five half days throughout the school year.  There are also four delayed start days with school beginning at 9:50am.  Child care is provided from 8:20-9:50 on those days and the cost is $5/day.  The school does not open early (7:40am) on those days.  Your number is correct for the choice hour fee, as are the hours of school and Kids' Club.

Hey Cindy,

My name is Brett Behm and I have a child attending BCS named Brayden Behm.  My question has to do with yearly costs for child care.  I’ve done a rough calculation as follows:

$360 choice hour (4 quarters/5day week) + $1468.50  (178 school days * 8.25)

I’m not certain of the exact number of school days for 2014 but believe this number is close.  Total yearly costs for all school days = $1828.50

And this should cover a Brayden between the hours of 7:40 am and 6 pm.

•         Cafeteria morning starts at 7:40 am.  Kids can be dropped off at this time.

•         At 8 am they can enter the hallways.

•         8:20 am – 3:15 pm is the school day.

•         Choice hour is from 3:20 – 4:05 pm

•         Latchkey is from 4:05 – 6 pm

Also I think I read for ½ days the $8.25 rate still applies.  Is my yearly calculation correct?
